1. Give yourself some extra room for the big day

If your home is cluttered at the best of times, then it’s no surprise that it can start to feel unbearable over the Christmas period. With all the extravagant decorations and gifts (not to mention the extra furniture you might be getting out for relatives or friends), Christmas always ends up being a little bit cramped.

So if you find yourself craving a bit of extra space this year, why not give some of your less-used furniture a temporary new home for the Christmas period?

You can move bulky items into your garage if you have one, or take a look at cheap garage storage options for the month if not. Time to make room for your tree, relatives, and mountains of new socks.

2. Donate your old things to charity

Christmas is a great time to do a bit of de-cluttering. With all that new stuff on it’s way, Christmas is the perfect excuse for having a good old clear out.

If you can’t store your old stuff in the attic and none of our cheap garage storage options work for you, then donating some stuff to charity could be a good option. Instead of throwing your old and less-used things away, look into giving them a new lease of life by making a charity donation.

Some charities (like the BHF or Traid) will come and collect your stuff for free and make sure it goes to a new loving home. Christmas is the time of giving, after all!

This could also be a good option for any unwanted gifts you might get in your Christmas haul too. Don’t worry, we won’t tell!

3. Put your Christmas decorations into storage

Once Christmas is done and dusted, you might find yourself wondering what to do with all your decorations now they no longer need the spotlight. A lot of people can put their Christmas decorations and extra furniture away in their garage, attic or basement for the next 12 months.

But for those who don’t have any space to spare, taking a look at cheap garage storage could be the answer. All you need to do is  pack it all up, drop it off at your storage space and then forget about it until next year. Easy peasy!

’Tis the season to de-clutter

It might not be a conventional Christmas this year, but the need for extra space has never been more important. We know it doesn’t quite add up to the fun of a ‘normal’ Christmas, but spending a bit of time de-cluttering could be just the ticket for a less-cramped Christmas.

Happy holidays!
