When is the August Bank Holiday in 2023?

Nobody wants to show up to work when they’re supposed to be off, so keep Monday 28 August 2023 blocked from your calendar. Now that you know the when, it’s time to decide on the what. There’s loads of things to do over the bank holiday weekend - but if you have no clue what to get up to, we’ve got some ideas.

Things to Do This August Bank Holiday Weekend

From nature walks to days out at the museum, here are our favourite things to do during the 2023 bank holiday weekend.

1) Enjoy the great outdoors

If the weather is good, it’s always nice to get some fresh air and enjoy the outdoors. Pack a picnic lunch (don’t forget the blanket!) and find a spot in your local park to sit back, eat, and relax.

If you’re based in London or planning a trip to London, we love Richmond Park. Not only are there expansive green areas to enjoy, but you should be able to spot the deer roaming around the park too. Alternatively, Battersea Park is always good fun, especially if you’re up for a treetop adventure at Go Ape.

2) Head to London for a day trip

Whether you live in London or not, it can be quite nice to play the role of tourist on the bank holiday weekend and visit the capital. Say hello to Big Ben, see all the attractions, and head to the parks... you can do it all (or at least try to)! Maybe even ride the London tour bus to get a close-up view of all of the city’s major attractions. Oh, and don’t forget to head down Oxford Street for some retail therapy and lunch.

3) Soak up the weather at the beach

Who doesn’t love the beach? If the weather is good, you should plan a trip to the UK’s coast for some much-needed sun, sea, and sand (or pebbles). 5) Enjoy a drink (or two) at a beer garden

There’s nothing better than spending the bank holiday weekend with some friends. Add in a couple of drinks (if you’re not driving), a really nice beer garden, and you’re all set. The Prince in Earl’s Court is not only the city’s biggest beer garden, but it’s also beautifully decorated and totally Instagrammable.
